Frequently Asked Question

Video streaming is slow / buggy when using Google Chrome
Last Updated 3 years ago

Google Chrome comes by default with a setting to use your video card instead of your processor to play videos.

This is fine when the videos are small in size or when you have a very powerful video board.

However on Bumper Dicks we use high resolution / bit-rate videos and therefore when you are watching videos on Bumper Dicks in Google Chrome, it can sometimes be very buggy and feel like the video is loading all the time.

There is a simple fix for this, explained below (read the text and check the photos!):

Step 1: Go to Google Chrome Settings (Top Left 3 line button -> Settings)

Step 2: Scroll to the bottom and press "Show advanced settings"

Step 3: Scroll to the bottom again

Step 4: Locate the box labeled "Use hardware acceleration"

Step 5: Disable that box, make sure this option is disabled.

Step 6: Click the blue "restart" link that will appear next to the box

Step 7: Google Chrome will now restart (it will reopen with all your tabs that you had opened before, you won't lose anything) and you will be able to watch videos on Bumper Dicks (and YouTube, Netflix or any other video streaming service) at super high and smooth rates!
